It was with sadness I learned of Doug Rowley's passing away. He was the commander of the local American Legion post and worked hard to help me and the community remember our country and veterans. Our paths would usually cross only about twice a year, on Memorial Day and Veteran's Day, but I looked forward to the American Legion's participation in Orem's commemorative events. This year I conducted Orem's Memorial Day program and really appreciated Doug's help.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I know he loved his country and I will miss him.

Where, Oh Where, Have Those Barrels Gone?
I don't care because they are no longer on 800 North. Hooray!
The construction begs a question: Should communities build their way out of automobile congestion? If so, which roads should be widened? If not, which roads should a city label "OK to have congestion"? I think I will ask Orem's Transportation Commission to give me an opinion.
